Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Samalewa undergoes a rigorous selection and review process to ensure the quality and relevance of the article to the journal's focus (Community Service). The process is as follows:

  1. Initial Screening: The Editor performs an initial check of the manuscript to ensure compliance with the journal's scope, adherence to the author guidelines, and plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements will be rejected or returned for correction before further processing.

  2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to at least two peer reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. This process is conducted double-blind, meaning the author's identity is concealed from the reviewer, and the reviewer's identity is concealed from the author, to ensure objective assessment.

  3. Review Criteria: Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, significance of the community service, implementation methodology, clarity of presentation, and contribution to society.

  4. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor makes the final decision:

    • Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted without revision or with very minor revisions.

    • Revisions Required: The author must revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editor's feedback.

    • Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires substantial revision and will be re-reviewed after revision.

    • Decline Submission: The manuscript does not meet quality standards or is irrelevant to the journal.

  5. Processing Time: The review process typically takes 4-8 weeks, depending on reviewer responsiveness and the author's speed in making revisions.
